Best of Alba Baptista Fan Account Interview

For over a year, @bestofbaptista fan account has been a place where fans can find the latest news and content about Alba Baptista. They not only take the time to find the latest news and events but have dedicated their time and energy to provide English translations for her fans. They graciously agreed to answer a few questions for the OCS Newsletter as well as provide the whole “Geração 90” podcast transcript and translation they did for the fandom.

OCS: What inspired you to start the best of alba baptista fan account?

When we started to know more about Alba and her career, we fell in love with the person she is and we got really inspired by her story as an actress, her talents and the message she brings when she talks about love, mental health, fears and the future. We identify with her thoughts about these topics. Initially, we thought about translating some of her videos because she has many fans around the world who don't speak portuguese, so the idea was to translate her interviews and other content so that everyone could understand. But then we thought about having an account that would update about her career (events, upcoming movies, ect) and other kinds of content, not just translations.

OCS: Is the account run by more than one person? If so, can you explain the dynamic and logistics of running this account?

When the account started, there were just two admins and our dynamic is that one works with the translation of her interviews and the other one updates the socials. Recently, another person joined the team and the dynamic is still the same, but now it´s two taking care of the posts and news that comes out.


OCS: What made you decide to answer questions for the OCS Newsletter and provide the transcripts for the fandom?

We wanted to answer the questions to talk about the account and our dynamic and share some of our thoughts on the topics that were discussed. We also wanted to give access to the podcast to all Alba fans who don’t speak Portuguese.

OCS: How did you discover Warrior Nun?

Before we created the account, we were already friends and one of us started watching Warrior Nun and became obsessed with Alba and the show. That's when it all started, because after that the other one became obsessed too.

OCS: Did you participate in the fight to save the show? If so, what made you want to fight to save the show?

It was really disappointing when the show got canceled because we're also a fan of warrior nun and we all know its potential and how important it is to many people and to the cast. We fought on our personal accounts at the time and we also love to support the fans making posts about the show or when Alba says something about it. 


OCS: Can you talk about the Alba Birthday project your account did in July 2024?

We wanted to do something special for her birthday and decided to create this Google form where fans could leave a birthday message. There was also a space where they could put their names and users to be identified. After the deadline we'd set for receiving the messages, we started the site on Canva and chose photos of Alba for each person to hang alongside their messages. We got 48 responses and It was a great experience to see all the beautiful and lovely messages!

OCS: The latest account project was covering the Tribeca Film Festival in October including the “geração 90” podcast and translation for the fans to find all Alba content in one place. Can you talk about the logistics that went into this?

We knew some of the accounts that were going to post about the event on Instagram like the organizers’ accounts (@/opto.sic, @/tribeca, @sic.noticias…). We spent most of Saturday keeping an eye on these accounts and updating the “best of”. As for the transcript and translation, some parts of the podcast that came out before the actual podcast were translated on the same day and the whole podcast took three days to translate.

OCS: Does coordination happen with other Alba Baptista fan accounts?

“Alba Baptista Brasil” is one of the accounts that helps us search for content when there’s an event or something that she’s working on. 


OCS: Thoughts when you saw the video of @flwerbaptista meeting Alba?

We got really emotional after seeing this video and the way Alba hugs the fan was the cutest thing we´ve ever seen! (one of the admins actually cried hahaha). We were also so happy to see that she felt loved by this fan, we could see her happiness through the video!

OCS: Thought when you saw the clip of Alba saying she would love to reunite with the cast of Warrior Nun?

Our thoughts were “Bring her as Ava Silva right now!”. She loves the character deeply and still cares about the story of the show. She also said that there's so much to happen and we definitely want to see more of Ava. That would be a dream.

OCS: What keeps you motivated to keep fans updated on Alba content? Why is it important to you?

The aim is to show her our love, respect and admiration for the person she is and the career she has built. The account is just a way for her fans to follow her work and see other content of her (photos, videos, edits).

OCS: Any positive message you would like to send to the Warrior Nun fandom and Alba fans?

The way the fandom fought and fights to save the show is already a reminder that we must fight for what we love and believe in. Just keep believing in your dreams and following your path with love, respect and compassion, even when everything seems difficult and impossible to continue. Alba once said in an interview: “We can have it all. If we fight hard enough. If we do it with love and with respect and with emotion and compassion and motivation. It can happen.” <3

Although the mystery of the fans behind the account remains unsolved, one fact is undeniable, they do it out of love and respect for Alba and will continue to bring everyone the same dedicated content we have grown to count on.
